Ep. 27: Sealed Decks for Charity

Happy Holidays everyone! Here’s my recap of our “White Elephant” Sealed Deck Christmas Charity Tournament held on December 14th near Houston. I’m proud to report that the event – put together by Kingwood Hobbies, Coaxium Gaming, and Jank It Up, Fuzzball – raised $286 for a local chapter of Toys-for-Tots.

We had twenty participants for a truly jank-tastic tourney, and I recap all the action — from the white elephant distribution of wrapped decks, to how I did personally over five rounds, and then culminating with our Top 4 and crowning a tournament champion. I had an absolute blast playing Destiny with other members of the Houston community, and my heart is full from the money our event was able to raise for such a great cause.

Monochromatic Giveway!

I’m planning on giving away a few of the monochromatic cards I brought back from Worlds over the next few episodes. Next up: here’s Leia Organa, Heart of the Resistance. I’m also tossing in a free power action token that you can use with her to mill your opponent! Listen at the end of the episode for details on how to enter. Winner will be randomly drawn on Monday, December 30.

This episode’s Booster Packs

I’ll be opening a brand new booster each episode and discussing the cards inside. This episode, I once again opened two Spark of Hope packs generously donated by Gameshop of Destiny and Kingwood Hobbies. Here’s the first booster pack, provided by Kingwood Hobbies.

Episode 27 Cracked Pack 1

I’m excited for the B-wing, even if vehicles aren’t easily playable in this current Desperate Measures meta. Those commons are pretty lit!

Next up was the pack from Gameshop of Destiny:

Another rare I didn’t already own! Time to play more bounty hunters, it seems. What to make of Misinformation, though… Remember, you can always save 15% off your order of Destiny singles at Gameshop using promo code “jank15”.

Rakuten Promotional Offer

If you do a lot of online shopping and are into free money, give Rakuten a try. I used a Rakuten promotion to get $10 back when I bought two General Grievous starter decks earlier this year. You can take advantage of the same deal, earning $10 back after making qualifying purchases of $25 or more. Plus, if you sign up using the referral link below and take advantage of the $10 back offer, Jank It Up, Fuzzball will receive a commission. If you’re a frequent online shopper, it’s an easy way to earn $10 for yourself while also supporting the pod!
